European equities ended Friday’s session on a lower note, weighed down by earning reports from Wall Street blue chip bank and the meeting between newly elected French president and U.S President Donald Trump.
In the United Kingdom, London’s main benchmark Ftse 100 ended the session in negative territory on Friday. However, the index finished the session almost unchanged for the week.
Elsewhere in Europe, The DAX and CAC 40 also traded lower in Friday’s session the benchmark were pressure by better than expected earnings report by U.S banks, as these reports reflected negatively on European banks. Despite the drop on Friday, both the DAX and CAC 40 ended the week nearly 1 percent higher.
• FTSE 100:
UK’s equities ended Friday’s session in the red due to the losses generated by Financials, Consumer Cyclicals and Energy Sectors, where FTSE 100 declined by 0.09 to trade at 7,378.39.
Falling stocks outnumbered rising ones with, 75 losers, 25 gainers while 1 share remained flat.
The best performers on the FTSE 100 were Anglo American PLC who rose by 2.10% to end at 11169.9, while Micro Focus International PLC gained 1.95% to settle at 2,088.8 and Fresnillo PLC ending 1.58% higher to last trade at 1,477.17
The worst performers on the FTSE 100 are, Barratt Developments PLC that tumbled by 2.50% to trade at 589.88. Meanwhile, Royal Mail PLC dropped 2.43% or 10 points to last trade at 402.44 and Associated British Foods PLC ending the session 2.06% lower at 2,852.71.
German equities market ended the session in the red; Equities were pressured by losses in the Financials, Utilities and Telecommunication Services sectors. German benchmark DAX 30 fell by 0.08% to settle lower at 12,631.72.
Today most of the shares in the German benchmark settled lower with 18 losers, 11 gainers, and 1 share was left unchanged.
The best performers on the DAX 30 are, Volkswagen AG which added 1.46%, followed by BASF SE who gained 1.23% and Fresenius Medical Care AG rose by 0.73%.
The worst performers on the DAX 30 are Commerzbank AG that fell by 1.20%, Meanwhile Thyssenkrupp AG lost 0.97% and Deutsche Bank AG ending 0.91% lower.
Moreover, the French stock market ended the session unchanged in Friday’s session, as French shares were pressured by losses incurred in Telecommunication services, Financials, and Healthcare sectors pushed equities downwards. French benchmark CAC40 ended the session unchanged to trade at 5,235.31
Today on the French benchmark the gainers outweighed the losers with 21 gainers, 18 losers, and 1 share remained unchanged.
The best performers on the CAC 40 were, TechnipFMC PLC that rose by 2.76%, followed by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis that gained 1.55% and ArcelorMittal SA ended the session 1.06% higher.
The worst performers on the CAC40 are Credit Agricole SA that fell by 1.68%, Meanwhile Societe Generale SA lost 1.25% and BNP Paribas SA ending 0.93% lower.
