European market report (2017-08-25)

European Market closed Friday’s trading session in the red territory as Fed Chair Janet Yellen started a series of central banker speech at Jackson Hole Economic Symposium in Wyoming.

Federal Reserve's chair did not mention the monetary policy or the economy in her today’s speech at Jackson Hole Economic Symposium in Wyoming. However, she said that the changes in the financial regulations were an appropriate response to the financial crises.

In Eurozone, the sector of Basic Resources was one of a few top gainers on the back of the increase in copper prices. Also, Auto’s shares rose after Fiat said that they would assess any offer for the Italian-American car maker, its stock rose by 1.6% during today’s session.

The best performer in the region was Provident Financial as its stock added more than 22% on the back of news that the firm would recognize its consumer credit unit.

Investors are keeping an eye on European Central Bank Presiden Mario Draghi as he would give a speech at Jackson Hole Economic Symposium in Wyoming as their concerns ahead of the next steps for monetary policy had been rose.

FTSE100:

UK’s equities ended today’s session in the red territory where FTSE100 down by 0.08% to settle at 7,401.46 as the losses in Utilities, Industrials and Consumer Cyclicals weighed on the shares.

Today’s falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on FTSE100 by 62 to 35, while 4 shares remained unchanged.

The top performers on FTSE100 in today’s session were, Provident Financial PLC rose by 22.46%, Shire PLC added 1.49%, and BHB Billiton gained 1.41.

However, the worst performers were, CRH PLC as its stock tumbled by 2.61%, meanwhile Paddy Power Betfair PLC fell by 2.02, and Worldpay Group PLC lost by 1.99%.

DAX30:

German’s equities ended today’s session in the red territory as the losses generated by Industrials, Telecommunication Services, and Consumer Non-Cyclicals pressured the equities. DAX 30 declined by 0.11% to close the session lower at 12,167.94.

Today’s declining stocks outnumbered rising ones with 21 gainers, 9 losers, and 0 flat shares.

The best performers of the session on the DAX 30 were, Deutsche Boerse AG added 1.26%, Bayer AG gained 1.21%, and RWE AG rose by 1.18%.

Meanwhile, the worst performers of the session on the DAX 30 were, Deutsche Post AG shed .87%, Linde AG AG lost 0.81%, and Siemens AG declined by 0.72.

CAC40:

French equities were also lower in today’s session where CAC 40 fell by 0.17% to settle down at 5,104.33 pressured by the losses in Utilities, Consumer Non-Cyclicals, and Telecommunications Services.

Today’s losers shares outnumbered gainers by 26 to 13, and 1 share remained flat.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were, Vivendi SA gained 2.30%, Vinci SA added 1.02%, and TechnipFMC PLC was up by 0.93%.

Meanwhile, the worst performers of the session on the CAC 40 were, Carrefour SA dropped by 2.16%, Engie SA fell by 1.17%, and Compagnie Generale des Etab declined by 1.08%.
