On Wednesday, European equities rebounded from the losses which generated yesterday as the fears regarding the geopolitical issues in North Korea started to disappear.
In Tuesday’s session Media stock was one of the worst performers. However, its gained in today’s session as ITV’s share rose by 2.5%. Moreover, Banking sectors rose today, where Swedbank added 2.4% after JPMorgan upgraded its recommendation on the Swedish lender.
BioMerieux was the biggest gainer in the region as its stock jumped by 8% after the firm announced that they increased their sales target and operating income for the current year. In addition, Petrofac decided to cut its dividend by 42% to improve its balance sheet.
Retail stocks were also higher as Ocado and Sainsbury's shares advanced by 4.2% and 2.2% respectively.
In economic news, German’s annual consumer price index released today and it came in line with expectations at 1.8% rose by 0.1%, while the monthly figure declined by 0.3% at 0.1% in August.
UK’s equities ended today’s trading session in the green territory where FTSE100 added 0.38% to settle up at 7,365.26 supported by the gains in Industrials, Telecommunication Services, and Consumer Non-Cyclical Sectors.
Today’s gainers significantly outnumbered losers on FTSE100 by 72 to 28, while no share remained flat.
The top performers on FTSE100 in today’s session were Ashtead Group PLC rose by 4.83%, G4S PLC added 2.70%, and ITV PLC gained 2.55%.
However, the worst performers were easyJet plc as its stock tumbled by 1.99%, meanwhile Provident Financial PLC fell by 1.60%, and Mediclinic International PLC lost by 1.52%.
German’s shares ended today’s session in positive territory where DAX30 added 0.47% to close higher at 12,002.47 helped by the gains in Basic Materials, Utilities and Financials sectors.
On DAX 30, today’s gainer outnumbered the losers by 25 to 5, and 0 shares remained unchanged.
The best performers of the session on the DAX 30 were, Heidelbergcement AG added 1.57%, Adidas AG gained 1.36%, and Deutsche Boerse AG advanced by 1.16%.
Meanwhile, the worst performers of the session on the DAX 30 were, Fresenius SE & Co KGaA shed 0.85%, Prosiebensat 1 Media SE lost 0.66%, and Volkswagen AG declined by 0.47%.
French shares were also higher today as CAC40 gained 0.49 to close up at 5,056.34 supported by the gains which generated by Industrials, Consumer Cyclicals and Technology sectors.
Today CAC 40 had 30 shares gainer, 8 losers and 2 shares remained flat.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were, ArcelorMittal SA gained 2.79%, Vivendi SA added 2.54%, and Atos SE rose by 1.85%.
Meanwhile, the worst performers of the session on the CAC 40 were, Sanofi SA dropped by 0.82%, Credit Agricole SA fell by 0.65%, and Lafargeholcim Ltd declined by 0.45%
